Afghanistan has announced its 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA in June. However, Hashmatullah Shahidi, who led Afghanistan in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, is not included in the squad. His last T20I appearance was in 2022. Youngster Nangyal Kharoti, who impressed in his international debut against Ireland earlier this year, has secured a place in the team. Kharoti showcased his talent with five wickets in three matches and an economy rate of just 5.90.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Ishaq, who previously represented Afghanistan in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cups in 2020 and 2022, has also been selected.
