Netherlands Squad – ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024
The Netherlands chose 15 players for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They didn’t pick two older players, Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann. Instead, they went for younger ones like Tim Pringle and Michael Levitt. Levitt got noticed for scoring 135 runs in just 62 balls against Namibia in Nepal. He hit 11 fours and 10 sixes.
Wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards will continue as captain, and star all-rounder Bas de Leede will also play a key role. The Netherlands will compete in the group stages against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. They will begin their campaign on June 4 against Nepal at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
Head coach Ryan Cook expressed confidence in the team’s composition and preparation.
“We have selected a well-balanced team capable of performing in the conditions we will face in the US and West Indies. The players have been training well and showcasing their growing depth and quality in recent ProSeries matches. We aim to rise to the challenges ahead and advance to the next round of the tournament.”
Reflecting on their previous World Cup performance, the Netherlands are determined to build on their success, including their memorable victory over South Africa during the Super 12 stage of the last T20 World Cup.
Teams have until May 25 to make any changes to their squad, after which any alterations will require approval from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
